$75 Gift Certificate to Red Ruby Rose!

Yesterday we kicked off our weeklong par-tay with an amazing discount from an Pavoreal in Costa Rica. Today we're flying you across the Atlantic to England to meet Rowena, owner and artist at Red Ruby Rose. Not only does she craft some of the most beautiful clutches I've ever seen, but she is also a talented pinhole polaroid photographer and moonlights in an indie-pop band called Santa Dog. (Are you not completely in love with her yet?!) She was recently chosen as a featured seller on Etsy and it's easy to see why!

I don't remember how I originally found her shop. I think I was searching for "something blue" and one of her lovely blue clutch bags came up in my results. It was love at first sight and I instantly thought that these bags would be PERFECT for a bride on her wedding day. Completely unique and so lovely, they are perfect to slip your wedding day essentials (lip gloss, mints, nail polish, extra hair pins, shout wipes, and tylenol) into! And with her amazing range of colors and styles, I'm sure every bride could find one to suit her color scheme. But let's not just stop at brides. These clutches are perfect for anyone. As gorgeous as they are, they could stand up to your formal nights out as well as at a bit of stylish flair to your casual outings. I am so jealous of whoever wins this gift certificate! Take a moment to go shop through her lovely bags and pick out your favorite! Then come back here and find out how to enter this giveaway! (Gentlemen, this means you too! Christmas is just around the corner and one of these would make a perfect present!)

Rowena is a mulit-talented artist and is completely inspiring. The only reason I haven't picked up my own clutch from her shop yet is simple because I cannot decide which one I like the best! I love them all! Rowena was kind enough to let us know a little bit more about herself so relax and join us for the conversation!

Name: Rowena Dugdale

Location: Bristol, England

Shop name: Red Ruby Rose

What led you to starting your own Etsy shop? Red Ruby Rose is the result of my yearning for a more tactile creative outlet away from my increasingly digital working life. (I'm also a freelance illustrator). I started making these clutch purses as gifts for friends and it just took off from there. I studied printed textiles at college so I'm really happy to be incorporating my own collage/photographic images onto fabric using exciting new digital advances in textile production.

What's your Starbucks order? Hmmm, I don't really do coffee. If Starbucks offered cocktails though, something tequila-based for me please.

As far as weddings go, what is your favorite trend? Sweet and simple. Hand-tied meadow flowers, nearest and dearest present, getting married barefoot under a tree, chickens running around....I don't know if that's a trend (especially the chickens) but it's certainly how I'd like to do it.

Other than your own, what are your two favorite Etsy shops? It's SOOOOooo hard to choose. I have many, many favourites. I think that I'd choose Lillyella and Tortillagirl as not only are they both gorgeous shops but they are run by lovely Etsians.

I know you are all super excited for this one! Here's how you enter today's giveaway:
1. Go look through her beautiful shop!
2. Pick out your favorite design and then come back here.
3. Leave a comment telling me which one is your favorite and why. Make sure you leave your email address in the comment so
that I can contact you if you are the winner!
4. At the end of the week we will be doing the drawings for the winner. A random number will be selected and the comment
corresponding to the number wins it! There is no limit to the comments you can leave so if you want to leave us a bunch in
hopes of increasing your odds, go for it! Just make sure you tell us a favorite and why in each comment and make sure your
contact information is included.
5. GOOD LUCK!

At first going through the shop I was overwhelmed by all of the GORGEOUS patterns and fabrics - I didn't think I'd be able to choose a favorite... UNTIL... I saw the nostalgic peony and lily of the vally. That's the one! It instantly brought me back to my wedding day, July 14, 2007. I had made my own bouquet of peonies from my Grandma's garden. My Grandmother is 86 (alothough if you ask her, she'll always tell you that she is a young 16+). As she is aging and her health is deteriorating, it was such a joy to have her present on our wedding day. To top it all off - My Grandma's signature flower is Lily of the Valley...This clutch was MEANT to be MINE!!!
Thank you for letting me know about this amazing shop - absolutely gorgeous!
    Sincerely,
    Melissa McKinnon

Poppy central silk - it's bright, it's quirky, it's unique - and I could totally see it completing many outfits in my future! :) I'm hoping that my husband will glance on here and see my comment...just in case I'm not the winner. haha.

All of her designs are fabulous! Awesome find, and great contest!

I have been clicking back and forth through the pages, and I can't make up my mind!! They are all gorgeous! I am, however, very partial to peony clutches... My favorite flower, always beautiful! (DMFMartin@gmail.com)

  19. MichBilyeu // December 10, 2008 at 8:57 PM

Becka, I'm so excited that your launch week is here! I love reading your blog. I was excited to see today's post and explore Red Ruby Rose's shop! All of her clutches are SO cute, it was hard to pick a favorite! (I probably went through each page about 20 times) But if I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be Peacock Palace. I'm usually not a fan of peacock pattern but this one is pulled off perfectly! Plus, the bright blue lining is an exciting surprise :) I look forward to the rest of the week!

    Good luck :)

Holy cow...how can you choose? I think "Bird on a Branch" caught my eye the most...I wear lots of black.

  21. Anonymous // December 10, 2008 at 9:53 PM

hmmm...so I must have missed the Poppy central silk-lined clutch the first time I was going through. This one has so much color, it's so vibrant. I love it because it has the white on one side and the red on the other. It's a great contrast and really adds to the character. Plus, you can match it with more things, which is definitely a plus!

    -Kmb7188@yahoo.com

  22. Anonymous // December 10, 2008 at 9:58 PM

Okay, and although I was straying away from black in the beginning, the Silk starburst clutch is gorgeous! I didn't realize until I clicked on it, the flowers are individually embroidered on, and it gives it almost a little bit of a sparkle. It's a very pretty design, elegant and unique!

  23. kwərk // December 10, 2008 at 10:13 PM
